El Salto del Roldán

No es un desconocido. Ya sea por sus leyendas o simplemente por su cercanía a la ciudad de Huesca, es difícil que no hayáis oído hablar de este paraje tan increíble. Marca el límite entre las sierras pirenaicas y el llano, una frontera delimitada por dos enormes moles de roca.

Un camino de dificultad media, pero bien habilitado para todo tipo de públicos, con vistas increíbles a cada paso, y en cualquier época del año. El paisaje incluye también la posibilidad de visitar la peña de San Miguel, los restos de un aljibe, el Castillo de Sen del siglo XII y una ermita románica.

Esto en lo referente a actividades y visitas, ¿pero y la historia? ¿Por qué ‘del Roldán’? Pues la leyenda dice que fue a causa de la vuelta a su Francia natal del caballero Roldán, sobrino de Carlo Magno, después de una fallida conquista de la Taifa de Saraqusta (Zaragoza). Este regreso era más bien una persecución, y ocurrió que al llegar a un cortado en la peña de Amán, cuyo interior recorre el río Flumen, el caballero frenó en seco, y cuando sus perseguidores creyeron tenerlo acorralado, dio un prodigioso salto con su caballo, y en lugar de caer al vacío, como era lo esperable, llegó al otro lado, dejando sus huellas, todavía visibles por algunos, en la peña de San Miguel.

Aunque se cuenta que su caballo no sobrevivió al salto y él tuvo que seguir a pie, y pereció poco después, en Ordesa, la historia narra que su espada, Durendal, consiguió llegar a Francia, al ser lanzada por el caballero con tal rabia que abrió la conocida como brecha del Roldán, para ver su tierra por última vez.

Alrededor de las impresionantes ubicaciones de nuestra provincia se cuentan muchas leyendas, pero sin duda esta es una de las más destacadas, lo que multiplica el atractivo de la zona.
